Another successful Annual Dinner was held at the Maroochy River Coach House by the Sunshine Coast Branch of the Society of St Andrew of Scotland (Queensland). The guest speaker was Malcolm J. Ferguson Esq. FSA Scot, a member of the Board of
Governors of our Society. Malcolm’s Dinner Address was titled “A Jacobite’s Story”. It told the story of Roderick Mackenzie of Achiltibuie, a member of the family of the Earl of Cromarty. Roderick was a reluctant Jacobite, and this Dinner Address tells
of his story and how his descendants went to Canada and Australia. Today, there are 3000 descendants of Roderick, and the Guest Speaker can count himself amongst their number. (Hope to publish this Dinner Address in the next edition of Albannaich Qld.)

Amongst the visitors who attended were the Guest Speaker Malcolm Ferguson and Jennifer Ferguson, our President, Doug Porteous and Joyce Porteous, Chieftain Ron Scott and Irene Scott, Chairman, Trevor Campbell and Mavis Campbell, Darling Downs Branch Hon. Secretary, Kym Flehr and Katrina Flehr and your editor, Peter Nicol. With a fine Celtic Band and a good dance floor, those present were able to show their enthusiasm. Fine singing and entertainment was provided by the Celtic Band, Highland Dancers and a Piper. Fine food and the “Address to a Haggis” rounded off the enjoyable night.
