Queensland has its own special Tartan, designed by Mr Jack Allen of Bundaberg in 1995. Allen was a cane farmer and a renowned weaver.

The tartan was four years in the planning before the finished product was produced. The colours, pattern and overall design were created by Allen using seven basic colours to depict the State of Queensland.

The Queensland Tartan is registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans, and the colours reflect different aspects of the State that consists of Royal blue for the Coral Sea, yellow for the sun, sand and beaches, green for the rainforests and crimson for the Cooktown orchid, our official floral emblem.
