Dae ya ken?

One of Brisbane’s most famous landmarks, The Story Bridge, commemorates John Douglas Story who was born in Edinburgh in 1869, and came to Queensland as a child.

Story was a prominent and influential Queensland public servant who advocated strongly the bridge’s construction.

Story also worked for the establishment of The University of Queensland and was a founding government representative on the University Senate. He became UQ’s first full-time Vice-Chancellor from 1938-1959.
